ClearlySo strengthens senior management team
Social finance intermediary ClearlySo has appointed Claire Braithwaite as COO/CFO as it builds on its achievements from 2013.
In a very successful first year of focusing solely on capital-raising for social enterprises, ClearlySo catalysed over £20m of investment in to social businesses, social enterprises and impact funds. Due to this success, the organisation is now expanding. Two new members of staff have joined: Clare Jones as Head of PR and Marketing, and Claire Braithwaite as Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer.
Claire Braithwaite is herself a social entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in the finance and social investment sector. With a PPE degree from Oxford, Claire initially trained as an accountant at Arthur Anderson, before founding LoveLula.com– which she then grew into Europe’s leading online retailer for natural skincare and beauty products.
The website won Best Retail Website in the Natural Health Beauty Awards and the Beauty Shortlist Awards and regularly featured in press such as Vogue, Elle, You and Stella. Claire was featured annually in the Top 20 Who’s Who in the Natural Beauty Industry, regularly spoke at industry events throughout Europe and won the ‘Women in Business Award’ at the Cheshire Business Awards.
In 2011 LoveLula.com was acquired by a VC-backed group. Claire remained as CFO / COO for the group until its sale in 2013.
Claire is now committed to advocating sustainable models of business and finance, and joined the team at ClearlySo at the beginning of January. She is a mentor for the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, an RSA fellow and a member of The Finance Innovation Lab.
Claire says: “I’m delighted to be joining ClearlySo, a leading professional services firm in the social investment sector. I have been hugely impressed with the calibre and expertise of the team. Combined with their passion and dedication they deliver a world-class service to our clients. We’re looking forward to a phenomenal 2014 as the sector continues its rapid growth.”
Rod Schwartz, CEO of ClearlySo, says: “We are delighted that our recruitment process has been so successful, and that we start 2014 with twotalented new members of the team. I am particularly pleased that Claire Braithwaite – who herself has been a successful social entrepreneur – will spend more than half her working week in the Northwest (Manchester), which gives our business more geographic diversity and better reflects our social enterprise client base.”
The team at ClearlySo continues to grow, with more staff expected to join in the next few weeks and months. One vacancy that remains open is in institutional sales, with details on the website.
