Welcome to the MBM Extraordinary Lives Club! A regular series of events designed to showcase the lives of entrepreneurial individuals who have done or who are doing extraordinary things.

Following on from the success of our events in October last year, we are delighted to announce a further two Extraordinary Lives Club events: in Edinburgh on the 9th of May and London on the 15th of May 2019.

Many of our clients are businesses based throughout the UK, which are going through significant growth either by investment, acquisition or international expansion. The Extraordinary Lives Club is just one of the ways in which we connect with entrepreneurs: by showcasing the lives of people with true entrepreneurial spirit!

Our speaker at both events will be triple Olympian Miriam Luke (Batten). Miriam achieved her sporting ambition by winning a silver medal at the Sydney games in 2000 as part of a women’s squad with her sister Guin Batten. She also participated in the Barcelona and Atlanta Olympics and won a gold medal at the 1998 World Rowing Championships. A couple of decades on, Miriam continues to row at a competitive level. She is also the first female President of Henley Rowing Club and one of only eleven women Stewards of Henley Royal Regatta. In addition, Miriam is the Chair of Henley’s Woman’s Regatta, the pinnacle event for over 1800 women rowers in the UK. She has also been nominated three times for the Sue Ryder South East Woman of Achievement.

Miriam now uses the skills, experience and personal characteristics required to perform at the top of her game as Lead Consultant for Getfeedback www.getfeedback.net. She specialises, both in the UK and globally, in supporting people, teams and organisations to develop e ective and collaborative leadership, taking a strengths based approach. As Lead Consultant, she has substantial experience in the creation and delivery of meaningful behavioural and cultural change programmes. Working across a wide variety of sectors, from banking and IT to high performance sport and education, her approach and style translate well into the workplace of training and development for corporate clients (including Costain, Astellas and HSBC).

At our event Miriam will tell us how she got involved with rowing, what drove her to compete at an Olympic level, the strength, motivation and resilience required to do so and the highs and lows along the way. She’ll also talk about how she went onto lead a team of 900 to create a high performance athlete’s village for the 2012 London Games and share her thoughts on the current climate for competitive sportswomen and her predictions for the future. Miriam will additionally discuss how she managed, with entrepreneurial spirit, to transition into the Corporate world, the challenges she faced, the psychology of successful leaders (in both the sporting and corporate worlds) and how to create leaders who thrive in a climate of fast paced change.

We hope you’ll join us at this informal event in either Edinburgh on 9th May or London on 15th May.

The London Extraordinary Lives Club will be held on Wednesday 15th May 2019 at 5.30pm at the Virgin Money Eagle Place Lounge, 1 Eagle Place, London SW1Y 6AF.
