WayraWayra is a world-leading start-up accelerator programme part of Telefonica Open Future_ (Telefonica's open-innovation platform). Wayra started back in 2011 as an initiative of Telefonica's CEO, Jose Maria Alvarez Pallete, and now there are 11Wayra Academies in 10 different countries. Wayra UK was created in 2012 and since then, it has helped more than 150 British and Irish start-ups take their businesses to the next level, helping them raise over $110m in third-party funding. In addition to Wayra's London accelerator, Wayra UK runs programmes to encourage start-up development in the Midlands and the North of England, as part of our mission to democratise entrepreneurship throughout the UK. During the year there are several Wayra calls, open to all entrepreneurs. This is the starting point of the selection process to be part of any of our different programmes. These calls are public and everybody can find information about them on our website.
