MMC backs smart content platform StoryStream

Real-time search, curation and content publishing technology raises £1.8m Series A funding to take on the $300bn content marketing industry

StoryStream, has today announced a £1.8m Series A funding round, led by MMC Ventures, the London-based venture capital fund.

Based in Brighton and founded in 2012, StoryStream’s technology is designed to solve the challenge facing global brands are competing for customer attention in an increasingly noisy, ad-blocked online world.

StoryStream’s smart content platform helps marketers combine user generated and dynamic brand content to create a more engaging and targeted brand experience. The unique technology combines real-time curation, distribution and analytics tools, offering the ability to seamlessly publish more personalised content across any customer channel.

StoryStream already works with some of the world’s biggest brands, including Porsche, Thomas Cook and Volvo. This Series A round is the first external funding into StoryStream and will be used to accelerate product development and support marketing, as the team looks to grow and work with more global brands.

Alex Vaidya, co-founder and CEO at StoryStream, said: “The marketing industry is one that has struggled to keep up with the connected world we now live in. Consumers are looking for a more authentic and seamless experience with brands. By displaying real-time customer and brand content together we help brands create more dynamic marketing and measure the results. We see an average increase of 4.5x in customer engagement, a key metric for every brand.”

“We’re very proud to be partnering with MMC Ventures. Their attitude about growing world class businesses is in line with our vision for StoryStream, and we’re looking forward to working closely with Jon and the team.”

Jon Coker, managing partner at MMC Ventures, said: “The complexity of managing content has increased dramatically over the last few years. Brands now have to create and manage a lot more content of their own, and make sure they are getting the most from the content their customers are creating. At the same time, they need to interact with their customers across many more channels. StoryStream reduces this complexity and in doing so allows brands to tell more engaging and authentic stories. We have been very impressed by what Alex and Neil have built together and we are excited to invest and to help them realise StoryStream’s potential”.
