The shortly to be published NI Deal Tracker Report will show that the amount of angel investing in NI companies more than doubled in 2019.

Published by Catalyst, NI Deal Tracker is now in its third year having established itself as the definitive guide to new share capital investment in NI tech companies. The full data for 2019 will be published at an online launch event at the end of June and will show a record year for NI investment. But the private or angel investment figure will be £12.8m in 2019 compared to £5.5m in 2018.

Commenting on the figures, Catalyst Director of Funding and UKBAA board member Alan Watts said :

“All areas of tech investment saw healthy rises in 2019 as the hard work of Catalyst and others was reflected in the quality and quantity of NI companies. However the angel figures show very strong growth aided by the revival of a NI-based angel network. Invest NI supports a number of early stage funds and the combination of Clarendon Fund Managers operating both Co-Fund NI and HBAN Ulster has significantly boosted private investment here. “

“NI’s tech companies are really coming of age as the willing attendance of 40 VCs at NI Deal Day in October testifies. “

The full NI Deal Tracker Report will be published at the end of June.

Details of the report and the launch event on 30th June will be available at Catalyst
