Dorset Business Angels

24 April 2018

Back in November 2014, UKBAA held a Film & Creative Content Investment Programme collaboration with Creative England and The National Lottery. The event was held at Elstree Film Studios, and Media City, Manchester.

Participants of the programme included Tony Hagger, MD, A-Z Films, and investment speaker/programme mentor Steve Royffe from Dorset Business Angels.

At that time Tony was a graduate of the London Film School and had won awards at several international shorts festivals for his 2006 film Half Term (which qualified for the Short Oscar Long list) but had not produced a major film.

They continued to co-operate, and we are delighted to confirm that Tony is now currently working with Steve on fundraising for a major high profile new production, The Liar, based on the best-selling semi-autobiographical comic novel by internationally renowned institution Stephen Fry.

Filming is due for the summer, and Stars confirmed include: Asa Butterfield (Hugo, Mrs Peregrine’s School for Peculiar Children), Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Full Monty, The Best Exotic Hotel), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington 1&2), David Walliams (Little Britain), Dean Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) and Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’s Diary), with many other well-known stars in discussion which will make this a ‘Best of British’ ensemble. watching the process.
