Cambridge Innovation Capital (CIC) led the current investment round in Jukedeck, a University of Cambridge spin-out, raising up to £2 million with CIC investing £1.5 million of this. The money will be used for working capital and key hires required to help scale up the business, following the launch of their first product .

Back in August 2014, the firm advised CIC and its co-investors, the University of Cambridge and the University EIS Fund managed by Parkwalk, on their initial seed investment of a total of £500,000 into Jukedeck. Jukedeck develops innovative software that allows users to generate their own original music for videos, online games and many other applications where real-time, responsive music is desired without copyright limitations.

The Mills & Reeve team is nationally renowned for its specialist experience and expertise in advising and assisting on complex investments in early and developing high-tech businesses. Corporate partner Zickie Lim, assisted by principal associate Dona Ardeman, advised CIC on this investment. Zickie said “It has been fantastic to see Jukedeck develop since last year and we were delighted to assist CIC with further investment into this innovative company”.
