UKBAA Angel Investment Awards success stories – World Wide Generation open up about winning Best Female-Led Investment in 2018
The UKBAA Angel Investment Awards features 15 categories and one of our key aims is to support equality and diversity. This year we have two awards – Best Woman-led Investment in Innovation and Best High Growth Woman Founder.
In 2018 World Wide Generation picked up the award for Best Female-Led Investment. The company’s CEO and Founder Manjula Lee talked to us about the importance of being recognised:
“It was exciting to win this award. I personally as a female founder really want to champion women in business and empower them. It’s a bit of a phenomenon right now that females are least funded in the industry except that we are outperforming by 60%. We’re really proud to champion this and put this agenda at the forefront.”
She went on to say, “What was really exciting about winning this award is that when we posted the photo of myself and our female investor on social media, that post got 17,000 clicks on it. We talked about the union between me as the female founder and the first investor that believed in us, which was a female investor.”
Why should others consider putting forward nominations for this year’s awards? “I think it’s a great way to get your business out there and to one, meet other businesses in your field and two, meet other Angel Investors that could also become part of your network and consortium in helping create dealflow for you.”
