Update on UKBAA’s Annual Awards Event 2nd July 2019
The UKBAA is deeply committed to supporting diversity and inclusion in relation to the growth of the entrepreneurial finance ecosystem here in the UK and this is reflected in our Annual Angel Investment Awards 2019.
We have been notified in the last 24hrs of the introduction of new penal laws to be upheld in Brunei. The UKBAA’s stance on these measures is clear: The announcement is a deeply flawed piece of legislation, containing a range of provisions that violate the premise of human rights and subsequently incites grave cause for concern.
These measures stand in direct opposition to our values as a trade association, and to our work in relation to supporting diversity and inclusion within the business and investment community.
On this basis, given The Dorchester Hotel’s association with the Brunei Investment Agency, we have made the decision to halt all proceedings with the hotelier in relation to our UKBAA Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony on 2nd July and will be moving to an alternative venue for this prestigious event, details of which will be available shortly.
